“The world has lost an irreplaceable talent”!
Iron Maiden have paid tribute to legendary metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio, who died at the weekend.

In a post on www.ironmaiden.com the band wrote:
“It is with huge sadness we hear that Ronnie has lost his battle against stomach cancer, and our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Wendy and family at this terrible time. From his earlier years in Elf, Black Sabbath and Dio, right through to his most recent days fronting Heaven and Hell, Ronnie, time and again, proved his genius as a frontman, always giving his all to his fans and his music. Ronnie was not only an incredibly gifted singer but also a wonderfully warm, intelligent and generous person and this shone through both on and off stage leaving a positive mark on everyone he came into contact with. A longstanding friend of Maiden, we played many shows together over the years and we will all miss him greatly.
“The world has lost an irreplaceable talent and, first and foremost, one of the finest human beings you could ever wish to meet.

Bret Michaels to make live return before the end of the month
Bret Michaels is to return to the stage just weeks after a near fatal brain haemorrhage.

The Poison frontman, who was hospitalised on April 23, is scheduled to play a headline show at the Hard Rock Hotel And Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. He will then go on to support Lynyrd Skynyrd on their US toru from June 10.
“Brett plans to remain on tour throughout the fall and early winter, with dates scheduled through December,” said an official spokesperson.
Scott Weiland ends bitter feud with former bandmates!
Scott Weiland has revealed to Kerrang! that he’s finally managed to put Velvet Revolver behind him and is looking forward to a bright new future with reunited grunge legends Stone Temple Pilots.

Scott had been involved in a bitter war of words via the internet with his ex-VR bandmates – guitarists Slash and Dave Kushner, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum – since walking out on the rock supergroup in March 2008. Now the frontman says he wishes nothing but the best for his former colleagues.
Marilyn Manson to star in new slasher flick!
Marilyn Manson is set to co-star in upcoming horror film, Splatter Sisters.

Splatter Sisters will be directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express) and will also feature The Double M’s fiancee Evan Rachel Wood.
“This is a role Marilyn Manson was born to play,” enthuses the director. “And with Evan Rachel Wood bringing dramatic gravity to the ensemble, I have no doubt this will take the horror genre to a new level.”
A release date is yet to be set for the film.
Ronnie James Dio 1942-2010
Heaven & Hell frontman Ronnie James Dio (pictured second right) died earlier today, following a short battle with stomach cancer. He was 67 years old.

“Today my heart is broken,” reads an official statement released by his wife and manager, Wendy. “Many, many friends and family were able to say their private goodbyes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all.
“We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us,” it continues. “Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.”
Ronnie, who fronted Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell and Dio during his 53-year career, was diagnosed with stomach cancer in November last year.
Earlier this month, Heaven & Hell – whose line-up was completed by guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Vinny Appice - cancelled their summer touring plans as it was revealed that the vocalist was not well enough.
Everyone at Kerrang! would like to extend their deepest sympathies to his wife, family and friends at this deeply sad time.
