Aerosmith guitarist injured in bike crash!

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry is currently recovering at home after being involved in a bike accident on Saturday (July 17).

According to police reports, the 59-year-old guitarist was riding through Middleborough, Massachusetts on his Ducati Monster 696 bike when he was hit from behind by a 62-year-old woman.

He was taken to hospital, but was released two hours later and is now recovering at home.

At this point it is not clear whether Aerosmith will postpone any shows of their upcoming 18 date US tour which is due to kick off this Friday (July 23).

Madina Lake bassist will not undergo brain surgery this week

Contrary to the report in this week’s Kerrang! magazine, Madina Lake bassist    Matthew Leone will now not undergo further brain surgery this week.

Matthew, who is currently recuperating at home, was hospitalised last month after a vicious assault in the band’s hometown of Chicago, which left him with a fractured skull, a broken jaw and a broken nose.

At the time of going to press, his brother Nathan told Kerrang! that Matthew was scheduled to undergo further brain surgery this Friday (July 16). He said Matthew’s doctors were hoping to reattach a portion of his skull

which was removed following the attack to help reduce the swelling of his brain. However, Nathan contacted K! last night to say that Matthew will now undergo a series of tests, including a CT scan, so that doctors can ascertain the level of the swelling.

“Brain surgery is terrifying and temperamental, but we’re obviously hoping for the best possible outcome,” Nathan told Kerrang!.

“I’m taking care of him at home, but we’ve got friends and family that come and help look after him, too,” he adds. “It’s scary, to be honest with you. Matthew has to have eyes on him constantly because if he so much as rolls over onto the exposed side of his head, there’s trouble.”

In related news, the fund set up to help with Matthew’s medical bills is now at $16,000. If you would like to donate, log on to www.throughthepain.org

Bret Michaels: “I’m not engaged”

Contrary to this morning’s report that Bret Michaels and his long-term girlfriend Kristi Lynn Gibson are engaged, the Poison frontman says he’s actually just bought her a new ring.

“No, we are not engaged yet, it’s a work in progress,” Bret told the CBS Early Show. “She has a beautiful promise ring – it’s a promise ring, or a friendship ring, with benefits. That’s what we call it.”

The couple have been dating for 16 years and have two daughters, Raine Elizabeth, 10, and Jorja Bleu, 5.

Buckcherry launch new charity single!

Buckcherry have released their new single, Our World, to help raise funds and awareness for the victims of the BP oil spill.

The track was just rewritten and recorded for this unique and unfortunate situation.”

The track is available to buy now from iTunes. The original version of Our World features on the band’s forthcoming album, All Night Long.

Korn boycott BP!

Following the catastrophic oil spill which has devastated the Louisiana coastline, Californian nu-metal heroes Korn have announced that they will not fuel any of their vehicles with BP petrol during their U.S. tour.

“We want to send a message to corporations like BP so that they will take more preventative measures in the future,” says vocalist Jonathan Davis. “The more costly their punishment, the more money they will spend to make sure disasters like this don’t happen again. It’s plain and simple capitalism.”
