Chad Gilbert will be taking a break from New Found Glory’s current US tour while he recovers from surgery for suspected cancer of the thyroid.

According to news reports, doctors discovered a potentially cancerous lump on the New Found Glory guitarist’s throat three weeks ago after he went in for treatment for suspected pneumonia.

As a precaution, he underwent surgery this past Tuesday (January 26) and doctors removed his thyroid gland. Thankfully they didn’t discover any cancerous cells.

“They removed half my thyroid but no cancer,” Gilbert said in Twitter post. “Thanks for the prayers love you!”

His girlfriend, Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams, added: “Wanted to say to all our fans, friends, and family - thank you so much for all the love and support you’ve shown for Chad. Let’s never take what we have for granted. One life, one chance!”

As previously reported, Good Charlotte started recording the follow up to 2007’s Good Morning Revival earlier this month with producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, The All-American Rejects, Dead By Sunrise)

However, just after the band have finished recording the album – which has tentatively been titled Cardiology - guitarist Benji Madden has revealed that they have decided to scrap it and start again!

“I went into the studio to hear some roughs and it just wasn’t right,” he wrote on the band’s official website. “I couldn’t figure it out. I was so lost. I love the songs, I love the lyrics, so what was the problem? I was just so bewildered, devastated actually, [that] this had never happened. I felt crazy!”

“I told our manager to just pause everything and I need time to think,” he added. “I called all the boys immediately and called an emergency meeting. Everyone sat down. And I just said, ‘Guys, we gotta start over.’”

Thankfully the rest of the band agreed, and they are now re-recording the album in Vancouver, Canada with with producer Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Lacuna Coil, Bullet For My Valentine).

From First To Last have sacked their guitarist Travis Richter.

“Travis has been with us since the beginning and will always be someone [we] care about deeply,” say the band in an official statement. “Unfortunately, as time goes on sometimes people grow apart from each other. No-one wants to have to kick out a member of their band. Sometimes you have to make really hard decisions. It’s part of being an adult.”

The band’s fourth full-length album Throne To The Wolves will be released in March through Rise.
