Corey Taylor admits he tried out for Velvet Revolver!

Posted in News on October 30th, 2009

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has revealed that he was considered as a vocalist for Velvet Revolver.

“I had a meeting with those guys, we did some demos together, and it just didn’t work — for whatever reason,” Corey tells Altitude TV. “It was just really cool. It was one of those things where it’s like I could have got to jam with legends, man, in my opinion. But, you know, it was cool and I still have nothing but respect.”

Stone Temple Pilots plan new album!

Posted in News on October 30th, 2009

Grunge legends Stone Temple Pilots, who reformed in April last year after a five year hiatus, are currently working on a new album.

The as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2001’s Shangri-La Dee Da will be the Californian band’s first studio output in almost eight years.

“When we get back from [our US] tour, we’re going to finish the album,” frontman Scott Weiland told Spinner.com. “Then, when we finish the album, there will be a big tour around its release and that will probably be a long tour.”

Weiland expects the album to be available next summer, however the release may be delayed because the band are currently being sued by their former label, Atlantic Records, for alleged breach of contract.

Following his split from popstar wife Avril Lavigne last month, Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley is making internet headlines again; This time as part of a hoax reporting that he died yesterday morning.

Yesterday afternoon, US blog www.brightestyoungthings.com, picked up on a number of Twitter posts from an unnamed American promoter / booking agent claiming that Whibley had passed away.

“Friends of DC music in Las Vegas have confirmed, to much much sorrow throughout our city that Deryck Whibley, who played so many early shows in DC’s punk scene, has died today,” began the post. “He was found at 10:45am by his girlfriend Hanna Beth Merjos. Details to come, we are all still reeling.”

The singer’s management have confirmed that the Tweets were false and that Whibley is “very much alive and well.”
