Patrick Stump Gets Arrested!

Posted in News on August 26th, 2009

Get out your “Free Patrick!” signs, fangirls!  Because Fall Out Boy lead singer Patrick Stump landed himself in jail last night.

“All I really have to say is ignorance of the law isn’t innocence…I didn’t want to give up my Illinois driver’s license and was unaware that was a crime. It is, by the way, in the state of California. Lesson learned. I technically broke a law, so technically I deserve whatever I get. But man, is my mom gonna be pissed.”

Slipknot cancel entire US tour!

Posted in News on August 26th, 2009

As previously reported, Slipknot were forced to cancel two dates in Washington State over the weekend due to drummer Joey Jordison being hospitalised with a “severe medical emergency”.

While a spokesperson for the band thought Jordison may be back behind the kit this week, the band have now cancelled all of the dates on their August / September US tour.

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor urged fans in Seattle to hold on to their tickets “because we are coming back to do this.” However yesterday the band’s label, Roadrunner Records, have told fans that they should check with local promoters about refunds which has resulted in a great deal of internet speculation about the severity of Jordison’s condition.

Cash leaves The Cab!

Posted in News on August 21st, 2009
This is the blog posted by Alex Deleon, singer of The Cab, on his blog http://symphonysoldier.com. He writes:

goodbye dear friend

First off I can’t thank our fans enough for making the What Happens In Vegas tour a success beyond our wildest dreams. I don’t think anybody quite realizes how much this means to us but it absolutely means the world. It was our first nationwide headlining tour and you guys were loving, welcoming, and absolutely incredible!  I’m sad to say the day has come where Cash has decided to leave the band and to move on from touring to pursue his other interests and dreams and to do what’s right for him in Las Vegas.   If you follow Cash on twitter I’m sure you’ve seen everything he has on his plate and that he’s been working on at home.  We wish him the best and I’m sure he’ll be no stranger at a Cab show or anytime we’re back in town. Thank you again to everyone for your unending support, you’ve made the tour and this summer one we’ll never forget. We hope to see everybody again soon. We are happier than ever and have so many songs we are dying to show you guys! Get ready… the best is yet to come!

Smashing Punpkins announce new drummer!

Posted in News on August 20th, 2009

Smashing Pumpkins have announced the replacement for drummer Jimmy Chamberlin who quit the seminal Chicago grunge rockers in March.

The band held a series of open auditions throughout the year and today confirmed that 19-year-old fan Mike Byrne from Oregon is their new sticksman.

“I’m super excited to be playing with the band. Dream come true, man,” said Byrne. “I’ve always thought that Billy’s [Corgan, vocals/guitar] interpretation of music was a real fresh one.”

“I’m excited to work with him moving forward - he truly deserves this opportunity,” added Corgan. “I believe in my heart he will push me to be a better musician.”

Byrne will make his studio debut with the band on the forthcoming follow-up to 2007’s Zeitgeist which is expected later this year.
