Anthrax have parted company with frontman Dan Nelson.
This news comes days after it was revealed that the vocalist was struck down with a mystery illness leading to the cancellation of several European shows.
Former Devilsize singer Nelson joined the band in December 2007.
In order to fulfill their Sonisphere commitments, the remaining band members will team up with former vocalist and “good friend” John Bush for a one-off performance on August 1 at Knebworth.
“The members of Anthrax have confirmed the departure of vocalist Dan Nelson,” reads an official statement posted on www.anthrax.com. “In light of this development, Anthrax’s slot on the U.S. Slipknot dates set for August and September, has also been cancelled.
“Anthrax is already actively considering lead singer candidates, and look forward to hitting the road before the end of the year.”
The band’s forthcoming album, Worship Music, will be released in October.
