Smashing Pumpkins are holding open auditions next Friday (April 10) in Los Angeles, California to find a replacement for drummer Jimmy Chamberlin.

Chamberlin, who was the only other original member of the seminal Chicago grungers apart from frontman Billy Corgan, quit the band last week stating he could no longer “just ‘Cash the cheque,’ so to speak.”

Interested parties have been asked to e-mail pumpkinsdrummer@gmail.com with a brief bio, photos and links to their performance footage online.

Gerard Way, along with the rest of My Chemical Romance, got a Twitter a few months back.  So far, the band has used their Twitters to update us on the Desolation Row music video, the status of their album and other music related things. 

They’ve also done things like post pictures of a dog’s genetalia.

And now?  Gerard is using Twitter to find himself a new car.

Green Day have revealed today that they will release upcoming new album, 21st Century Breakdown, on Friday May 15 – worldwide.

Last week, the band gave Kerrang! a sneak-preview of the follow-up to 2004′s American Idiot.

The record was recorded in LA at Ocean Way Studios with producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Against Me!, AFI) and features 16 tracks – divided into three acts: Heroes And Cons, Charlatans And Saints and Horseshoes And Handgrenades.

In case you got caught up in the whirlwind rumor that Paramore’s red-headed leader got engaged to her boyfriend, Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory, Hayley has taken to the band’s official blog to say it ain’t so.

i had no idea i was engaged! i’m so happy for myself!

in case you guys have seen the post floating around the interweb, i just wanted to state for the record that chad and i are not engaged. haha i feel so ridiculous posting about this… but hopefully i’m posting enough in advance that most of you haven’t even heard all this, yet. ooh lordy.

so, now you’ve heard it here… the rumors are not true…
