Dreavyn Kingslee Martin was born on Jan. 26 in Pasadena, Calif. He is the first child for the couple.

Adds Martin: “It is hands down the most amazing thing that has ever happened in my life. We can see so much of my wife and I in him already!”

Gabe Saporta’s Healin’ Cords and Wasted Inspiration!

Posted in News on January 30th, 2009

Cobra Starship are stoked to be one of the big bands on Fall Out Boy’s Believers Never Die Part Deux tour, but Gabe Saporta isn’t convinced his golden pipes will be all well and healed by Spring.

Saporta recently spoke to MTV about his concerns, which began during the ‘08 Warped Tour.

“So, like, one morning we had to take the stage at, like, 11:30 in the morning, and I never wake up before 2:30 in the afternoon, but I had to roll out of bed and get dressed and take the stage, and as soon as I was singing, I thought, ‘F—, I totally strained my vocal cords.’ I could just feel it.”

He went in for surgery on December 17th, but admits he’s not healing up that quick.

“I’m a little concerned that it might affect the band and the tour. I mean, I’ll drive the train right into the f—ing ground if I have to, but on the other hand, it’d be a shame if my voice blew out and the whole thing went to hell. Now I have to think about stuff like that, you know, my boys and my band and stuff. And it’s a little worrying; I’m not going to lie.”

He also talked about his inspirations for the next album — I’m betting all of you fiesty fightin’ types may find an anthem in the next Cobra disc.

“I’ve discovered that the best way to get lyrical inspiration has just been to go out all the time. And not just go out, but, like, go out, get as intoxicated as possible, get in trouble, get kicked out of a place. It’s not fun for me to go out unless I get kicked out and get hammered. I don’t want to have a conversation about politics, I just wanna get trashed. And the only place I can do that is in New York City. Everywhere else, if you get out of hand, people get afraid. In NYC, if you get drunk and start f—ing with people, they’ll f— with you right back. And I love that confrontation. It may not be super-healthy, but I love it … so there’s a lot of that on the new album.”

The Mother Of All Tours!!! Paramore & No Doubt!!!

There are a lot of good things about this week, but just shy of inaugurating our new president is the SUPER AWESOME ANNOUNCEMENT that NO DOUBT is taking PARAMORE on tour this summer. The news comes via No Doubt’s record label, Interscope.

“What a dream tour! We couldn’t be more excited to kick off 2009 by touring with a band like No Doubt,” said Paramore singer Hayley Williams.

Come On, Come On, The Camera’s On!

Posted in News on January 19th, 2009

In case you didn’t already know, Cobra Starship has secluded themselves in an undisclosed part of Pennsylvania, rented a cabin and begun working on their third album and follow-up to Viva La Cobra.

Wanna watch the progress and see Cobras in their natural environment?  Then head over to their broadcast on StickAm (http://www.stickam.com/cobrah).  The camera should stay on constantly, however Gabe has said the band will Twitter when something interesting or funny is going on.  However, they have been muting the sound when they’re working on music in order to keep their new material under wraps for the moment.

There’s also an option to chat with other Cobra fans as voyeuristic as you are if you get an account on the site.  You don’t have to join StickAm to watch, though!

Aerosmith forced cancel to Venezuela show!

Posted in News on January 19th, 2009

Classic rock icons Aerosmith have been forced to cancel their upcoming Venezuela festival date after guitarist Joe Perry developed “unforeseen complications” with his replacement knee last week.

Perry, 58, has been forced to have emergency surgery on his knee less than a year after surgeons fitted him with a replacement.

Aerosmith were due to headline Solid Fest in Caracas on Sunday, February 1.

“Playing Venezuela was my idea of a perfect way to start the New Year,” said frontman Steven Tyler. “But having heard Joe had to revisit the hospital this month, the band are truly disappointed we can’t be in Caracas and we hope to see everyone there soon.”

Hayley Williams “I don’t need you to think I’m cool”!

Posted in News on January 10th, 2009

Over the festive period, Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams has been taking some time out to celebrate her 20th birthday and assess her life and how far her band have come in the last four years.

“A lot of you guys have been supporting Paramore for a while now,” she writes in her online blog. “Since I was 16 since Zac was 14! Geez! And you’ve watched us grow up. You’ve watched us change… And sometimes you like it… But a lot of times you don’t. And that’s alright!”

In the entry, Williams also addressed her critics saying that “I don’t need anyone to approve of me or think I’m cool to make me feel fine with myself.”

“I don’t need to be in a popular band or make a LiveJournal post to find value in my life… Even though “blogging” rules,” she continued. “Some of you guys think I have changed a lot. And I have. I’ve gone from being 16 to 17 then to 18, 19 and now, my 20th year of existence has been bestowed upon me. i am always changing. Thank God!

“I like different things, I have a few new friends, I listen to bands I didn’t listen to even two months ago… I’m living, and it is awesome,” added Williams. “So, if any of you guys are planning on staying sixteen forever then I’ll catch ya on the flipside.”

Patrick Stump Comments on Fall Out Boy Blender Article, Blender Comments Back

Posted in News on January 8th, 2009

The article mentions that Stump quit Fall Out Boy after Wentz made a business decision Stump disagreed with, which led to Stump working on material for a solo album.  And Stump says that much at least is true.  In an e-mail to MTV.com he clarified “Did I quit the band? Did I say what appeared in the article? Of course. But followed immediately by it was something to the tune of this: I quit, until I started writing my solo songs and I realized how much I need him. My songs sucked without Pete and they were less fun to write.”

“I love the guy, he’s my best friend, and I realized that for all the decisions I’d ever gotten mad at him about, I likely would’ve done exactly the same in his position. I quit the band (as we all have, by the way, that’s part of being in bands) and when I returned I resolved to keep doing this as long as all four of us were having fun.”

Stump, like drummer Andy Hurley, seems to feel that Wentz took the brunt of the bad press from the article.  In a post to Twitter late last night, Hurley said “ it is misrepresenting us GROSSLY. but, mainly just pete. and that infuriates me.”  Stump’s take on the situation is,  “It’s an entertaining article that manages to take its hero from the heights of superstardom to the depths of narcissism.  But it never redeems him and it does so at the cost of fact.”  He compares Pete’s treatment to the treatment that he and guitarist Joe Trohman (whoalso had quotes taken massively out of context, according to Hurley) recieved, saying “at the end of both my and Joe’s quotes you can almost hear the context fading in the distance.”

A spokesperson from Blender has stated “We stand by our reporting. Anyone who reads the entire article will see that it is not only fair but essentially positive.”

Frank Iero designs charity shoe!

Posted in News on January 8th, 2009

My Chemical Romance guitarist and Leathermouth frontman Frank Iero has joined forces with Macbeth shoes and charity organisation SSE to create a signature trainer to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer.

“I based the shoe off of the canvas Wallister design that Macbeth had done back in the day,” Iero tells Kerrang!. “I wanted a shoe that could make me run faster, jump higher, and fight cancer!”

“I hope the shoe does well, the better they do financially the more we can help the cause,” he adds.

For the full article, and to read more from Frank Iero, pick up this week’s Kerrang! magazine!
